These had their roots in Joyce's writing at the end of the Second World War when, along with Stephen Potter, she was employed by the BBC and came up with the satirical 'How To' series, covering such enlightening subjects as 'How To Talk To Children' and 'How To Listen'. No doubt the two shows were aired consecutively! Although film success gave Joyce financial security she was never one to rest on her laurels, writing books, scripts, making records and touring in between film shoots. Add to this frequent appearances on such radio quiz shows as Face The Music and it is easy to see why she was voted one of the Top 50 comedians of all time by her contemporary comedians, the perfect accolade.
